ICB - IPMA (International Project Management Association) Competence Baseline

IPMA actively promotes project management to businesses and organisations around the world. The organisation certifies project managers, awards successful project teams and researchers, and provides a number of project management publications.

The IPMA competence baseline (ICB3®) sets out the knowledge and experience expected from the managers of projects, programmes and project portfolios. It contains basic terms, practices, methods and tools for professional project  management, as well as specialist knowledge and experience.

It is the basis for IPMA Level A® (Certified Projects Director); IPMA Level B® (Certified Senior Project Manager); IPMA Level C® (Certified Project Manager) and IPMA Level D® (Certified Project Management Associate). The IPMA® four level certification program is world leading. It is competence based and provides standards by which project management performance can be measured.
